Unless you were tuned into certain Toronto TV stations around 6 PM Saturday, you probably didn't notice there was an emergency alert. Around 6:09 PM, I was watching CTV Toronto's 6 PM news, when the noise cut off the audio and there was a warning about a possible tornado in places to the far north of Ontario. 

It didn't really make much sense for a Toronto audience, but I'm guessing it's because the station may be seen in those markets via cable that it appeared here at all, because it was nowhere near the GTA. The ironic timing though was not lost on me - it came just as the show was doing its early weather forecast, meaning those watching in Toronto heard about what was possibly coming way up north, but not here in the city. 

The same warning aired on Global around the same time. 

It did not affect phones, and you probably didn't get any alerts here. 

It comes just days after a province-wide test of the system.

And thankfully, there were no tornados. Also worth noting - the info never seemed to reach the two stations themselves, because neither even mentioned it later on their longer weather forecasts.
