Currently filming the 12 episode season 5 will be the last for Son Of A Critch according to creator Mark Critch. More from Deadline..'Son Of A Critch' To End After Fifth Season

I was wondering when this was finally coming back. The actor who plays young Mark, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, is getting a little long in the tooth to keep playing a high school student. They would have to completely reorient the show if it were to come back much longer than one more season.

This is a logical time for the series to end. The young Mark played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is 17 as they film the last season and turns 18 end of September. I liked the way the series had Mark and his friends in elementary school in season 1 and moving into highschool in the 2nd season.
I think CW dropped the series a while back, the article in Deadline sort of reads like it is still on their schedule. Son Of A Critch is on Netflix in the US.
Only saw about 10 episodes in the series and overall I liked it. One of those programs that could be funny but also very touching. I am sure the 60 episodes will be available on CBC GEM for a long time.

I don’t watch a lot of TV outside of sports and news but I’ve really enjoyed Son of a Critch. I’ve always liked Mark Critch on This Hour has 22 Minutes which is why I gave this show a shot.
I agree this is the time to wrap up the series.

Correction, Netflix streams the show in 11 countries, but currently not in the US.

For some reason I suspected that this would be the last season of this show, especially since the young actors are getting older, as mentioned in this thread, but what surprises me is that they pushed the air dates, which only adds to the young actors’ age, as it usually starts it’s season in January.
I must say that I have enjoyed this series, a bit like The Wonder Years but Canadian. I also like the radio station being part of their story, something you don’t see too often in storylines, plus they have done a good job with the 80s posters etc. in the station, I also like Malcolm McDowell role. All in all an entertaining show and the only CBC show I’ve recorded in years. I’ll miss it but look forward to the last season!
