I could be totally wrong, but I think she referred to a need for knee or hip surgery at one point. My guess is that's what she's recuperating from, but it's only that - a guess. But it would certainly explain why she's been out for long. 

That said, when Jerry Agar had his knee surgery, he was back in like, two weeks, broadcasting from a home studio.

She has posted the odd thing on X/Twitter so is "around". These quoted sections below are sheer conjecture from a listener Facebook group so should not be taken as anything authoritative, but obviously by this point typical listeners have noticed, not just folks of SOWNY. 

Alex moved out of Toronto a few weeks ago or so.
Maybe she knew her contract was coming up and that they may not make a deal....just speculating.
I doubt that she would want to make a long drive down to Corus everyday from out of town.
Seems unlikely that she is coming back since no other host is mentioning her, wishing her a good recovery if she did have surgery etc.

UPDATE : April 30th Greg Brady had some politician on his show (I was half asleep) and he mentioned that he was at whatever event yesterday/ last evening, he was talking to your (Greg) colleague, Alex Pierson...so,she was out and about.

 I highly doubt Alex's absence is about her hip. Last time she was chiming in on the air about her surgery and recovery.
More likely she is attempting to renegotiate her contract or Corus tried to let her go and she is fighting it with her lawyers or perhaps other possibilities.
No-one is even mentioning the "why" behind her absence or mentioning her at all except for the intro to her time slot. I'm sure they all know what's going on and are not saying.

Well, now this is interesting. Here's Alex Pierson in a recent video hosting a Q&A for a site called Honest Reporting Canada, about the war in Iran. It's dated March 18th, which is not that long ago and she was definitely off the air then.

And please - let's keep politics out of this. I'm using this solely to demonstrate that she clearly can be a host, whatever is going on with her.
