More bad proNOUNCE iations

Listening to 680 News this afternoon.
Woman news reader doing a story about antisemitism.
She quoted the Jewish organization B'nai Brith which she pronounced as bah-NYE-brith. It is of course bah-NAY brith
And, the one that makes me scream into my car dashboard, anti sah MET ic, instead of anti sah MIT ic.
At one time if you turned in an audition reel to a prospective radio news director they would hurl it back in your face with advice to just not bother to try to be a radio newscaster.

On this subject, this is not only hilarious, it's also an absolutely amazing performance by Ronnie Barker.

Re: More bad proNOUNCE iations

I recall 640 having ads about buying 'precious MEH-TOLLS'. It's one thing to have rip-n-readers flubbing, but it's a special kind of talent to screw up produced ad copy.

Re: More bad proNOUNCE iations

640's Brad Smith kept pronouncing Stephanie Smyth as "Smith" last week when she was in the news.

Re: More bad proNOUNCE iations

Last week Global Toronto reporter Victoria Femia last name was mispronounced by anchor for 2 consecutive days.

Re: More bad proNOUNCE iations

Don't get me started again on TO broadcasters who still don't know how to pronounce Toronto. No one says Toron-TOE unless they aren't from here. While I am at it...let me call out the News Directors who should be calling them on it.

Re: More bad proNOUNCE iations

Are these the same news directors who are paid a dollar more an hour than anyone else in the newsroom?
