Today is supposed to be the last day for 630 CFCO. Also the nested 92.9 transmitter, will it close today or has it already?

Nothing about closing on their website but it’s 8am on a Saturday, so there’s that!

Still on at 1050 a.m. today. Wrote them an email Friday asking when 630 would shut down and when the array on Queen's Line might come tumbling down. No response so far.

12:30 PM. I'm still hearing it, here in London.

A local website also made note of the change.

I was down in the Chatham area.....I could not get it in London, but by the time I was at Dutton it is ok......
I guess the benefit of FM stereo sound quality must out weigh the distance factor at CFCOs good AM signal provided. Maybe local advertisers don't care about people from very far away listening, as they aren't buying from the local Chatham-Kent businesses.
I lived in Chatham from 1973 to 1985, but because of CFCO, I knew about many local businesses and other things before I moved there
It is now really a totally local Chatham-Kent station.....I'll miss the CFCO 630 (I remember a lot of the musical jingles that CFCO had in those days. ) All the best to them...I hope they will have a good 100 year celebration as it comes up.

The switch was pulled about 3:15 pm in the middle of a song according to the Michigan Radio Buzzboard. At 3:05 pm 630 was still on the air. There was some speculation it would shout down at 6:30 pm.
So this is the third AM in the Southern Ontario area to shut down this month; WHLX 1590 Marine City Mi, WPHM 1380 Port Huron Mi, and CFCO.
Who is next?

I wonder how CKWW and CKOC are doing.
They have some commercials and the same morning news man and CKOC has CHCH news at 6 pm
But I think they have gotten rid of live DJ announcers...
I hope they can work things out and stay on the air

Their morning news man (Al Pervin) is also the General Manager, and yes at least for CKOC-no DJ's.

It’s not often one radio station covers the events of another one near the same market. But CBC Windsor did an interview with the V.P. of Blackburn Radio about the shift of CFCO from AM to FM – and reminisced with former employees about their time there.
