What exactly is "topics worthy of discussion"?

Oakley brands this segment as "topics worthy of discussion". Am I to assume that the other two and a half hours of his show includes "topics completely useless and tune to RB?" 🤔

It's a great day for talk radio.

Not according to pg. B8 of today's Globe ROB, where an analyst has again dropped the target for CJR.B (unofficial til Ol' Louie Skizzis weighs in)

From David Farrell's fyimusicnews.ca's Media Beat column:

Corus Entertainment took a drubbing for its Q1 numbers that failed to match investor expectations. While ad revenues for TV and radio were down in the period ended Nov. 30, segment profits remained relatively robust. Consolidated revenues for the quarter were $457.4M, a 2% decrease over Q1 2017’s $468M in the prior year. On a consolidated basis, merchandising, distribution and other revenues increased 4%, subscriber revenues were flat, while advertising revenues were down 3%. Revenues declined in Television and Radio by 2% and 1%, respectively, in the first quarter compared to the prior year.

Consolidated segment profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2018 was $177.9M, a decrease of 7% from $192M last year. Segment profit margin for the first quarter of fiscal 2018 was 39%, down from 41% in the prior year.

I'm sorry... 640 will NEVER be anything but an "also ran" station. Even with them putting lipstick on the pig as they are doing now, it's nothing more than delaying their demise.

Go ahead, Mike, make fun of this comment, but surely, even you must admit that the station is doomed. I'd quit making fun of RB as "the old folks home", as you might need a job there soon.
