Toronto Radio TV Commercials From The 80s and 90s

Retrontario strikes gold again. Among the short spots in this collection: CBL-AM, CHFI (with Herb Tarlek of WKRP fame,) CHUM-FM, CFNY, CHUM-AM, CFTR, CJCL 1430, Q107, CFRB, CKEY, CFGM and even CHAY-FM. A great nostalgic trip down memory lane with the jocks who made it happen.

That was great, but it's missing the ad for a certain other station in Toronto that ran an ad that said
"While other stations TURN OUT THE LIGHTS...we're doing half hour music mixes!!!!!"

That's a great compilation. One of the CHFI ads even mentions their cable FM position. Was on cable that I  started to listen to CHIC/CFNY back around 1975/76. There was even a station from Scarborough College U of T but it was dull and pedestrian from what I remember.  Why repeat what could be heard on Top 40 or mainstream rock stations ?

There were a few American stations on cable including WHTT oldies 104 and perhaps WBUF.

Here's two radio ads plus some other content that I recorded that are not in the compilation. I have to go thru the tapes to hopefully find more one day:

Edit- I noticed one of the ads below is in the comp above but the audio is diffrent so I guess it is unique.

Unfortunately my all time favorite is not included.  It was for CHUM I believe and also done in a few US markets.  It was a close up of a woman lip syncing air check-breaks from the station.  I always thought it was brilliant, but have not seen it for several years.   Anyone have a copy of it I would love to see it again.

I remember WBEN 930 had a commercial along those lines. Quite possibly the same commercial, just with their branding. Can't say I remember any CHUM commercial like that, though.

If it's along the lines of these, with model/actress Kelly Harmon, looks like they'd be from the same ad agency and offered up to whatever station wanted to buy that package/offering in the local market, as Just A Radio Fan suggests? The "Remarkable Mouth" campaign. Individually customized for the station in question.

And additionally...

Yeah, that's definitely the ad campaign I remember for WBEN 930. It was during the early 1980's and the station was still playing music during a good portion of the day, so that ad would've fit.

Thanks for looking those up, AR.

Those "You Have A Remarkable Mouth" TV ads came from Chuck Blore Creative Services in LA.
Chuck created a bunch of others, including Chuck himself as General Patton doing the opening speech from the movie "Patton" and "The Janitor" featuring Chuck's then partner Don Richman, playing a station janitor cleaning the control room who then mouths a tight aircheck sampler of that station (much like "Remarkable Mouth").

Very interesting background! Here's a newspaper photo/blurb from March 1972 with the three folks.
