No matter where I’ve lived, I’ve never “put my winter coat away”. It just sits in my closet and I pull it out whenever I need it.

I suppose some people might put winter gear into storage for the summer.

CTV's Lindsay Morrison has said this recently. Same for some of the people on 680 News. And on Monday afternoon, even Global meterologist Anthony Farnell uttered this idiotic "warning." 
Has anyone who ever lived in the GTA actually decided to put their cold weather gear away at the end of March? Winter here goes on forever and it's certainly not over by the end of this month. Or even next. I've never met a single person who puts their coat in the closet this early. (And really, how much trouble is it to actually take your coat out of that closet even if you did put it away?) 

It's the worst kind of meaningless cliche and it always sets my teeth on edge. 

So don't put your heavy coat away just yet. Just put this hoary old expression away because just like winter, it leaves viewers cold. 

I spend more money on the products advertised when I hear/see the weather person say "Don't put your winter coats away yet".  
I like hearing that. It's a reminder not to seek out other types of coats that might not be warm enough.  

I mean like really, you can't have your cake and eat it too. SPRING MEANS SPRING!!! March 21st is officially spring, not an extended winter. 
The real point is, we go through all the trouble of declaring that Spring is a SET DATE of March 21st every year, then what?? Maybe that's the real point. Good for the weather people for pointing out that it may be spring but it's still winter. 
The real complication is, while April showers bring May Flowers, if it's still winter in April, will April snow help the flowers grow???

It's always nice to get out that winter coat you put away eight months ago and find a forgotten twenty-dollar bill in the pocket.

I certainly agree with "One More Sleep." This is a constantly reused and mostly meaningless cliche I've been complaining about for a long time.

I hear it constantly on the news and on the radio - One more sleep until the Blue Jays season begins, One more sleep until Christmas Day, One more sleep until my head explodes from hearing this stupid phrase. They all do it and it sets my teeth on edge. 

What's wrong with the simple word "tomorrow?"
