Coming Soon To Crave: Saturday Night Live U.K.

Fifty years after it first debuted in the U.S., the folks in England have decided to put on their own version of NBC's "Saturday Night Live." The show will deal with all the usual political shenanigans that are endemic to the U.K. and feature a crew of British Not Ready For Primetime Players, most of whom you've probably never heard of.

But it may still seem familiar to regular viewers.

"The series will follow the same beloved structure as the original, introducing a new generation of comedy players in a core cast, alongside a rotating slate of guest hosts and live musical performances."

So how it will play in North America? You'll soon find out if you subscribe to Crave. The Canadian streamer has become one of the first to sign on for rights to the show in this part of the world, and the six episodes being made over there will debut here weekly on March 21st. And yes, that's a Saturday.

Re: Coming Soon To Crave: Saturday Night Live U.K.

I’ll be tuning in, being a fan of SNL and British humour! I just wonder how their political skits will go over as I, like most Canadians, don’t follow British politics that closely. Still, this has the potential to be a very funny show, even if it is only for six episodes!

For those curious about this, the very first host will be - how appropriate - Tina Fey.  Here's the promo.
