It's been on the air for 75 years, yet there's a good chance you've not only not heard it but never heard of it. It's a CBC Radio show called "The Broadcast" and it's been on the air every day in Newfoundland for over seven decades. It first aired on March 5, 1951. It's never stopped.
"For 75 years, The Broadcast has been reeling in listeners on CBC Radio with stories about the ocean surrounding Newfoundland and Labrador and the people who make a living there, making it the longest-running daily radio show in Canada."
That's a pretty amazing record, although I have to wonder how they've kept coming up with topics day after day for three quarters of a century!
It's diamond: The Broadcast celebrates 75 years on CBC Radio
