It's one of the Buffalo AM signals we can't really get in the GTA. WEBR broadcasts on 1440 AM, a relatively weak signal drowned out by Fairchild's Chinese-formatted CHTK on 1430.
But now the Western New York classic hits station seems ready to take up another position on the FM dial. But because of where it is, we're still not likely to get that signal, either.
There are reports the owners of WEBR are applying to use 106.9 to help spread their wares into Western New York. That's very close to Q107 and I'm not sure how Industry Canada will react to the news.
They may not have to do anything. If the FCC approves the new signal, it will barely be strong enough to be heard in Western New York. There are reports that at just 15 watts, it won't get out very far.
WEBR already has another FM repeater. It's at 105.3, and that one doesn't reach Toronto, either.

The 105.3 translator actually does reach the very east end of the city. I hear it often when driving on the 401 and even with RDS display. It overtakes CFCA, which becomes quite weak out that way. I do agree, we will not hear the new 15 watt one on 106.9. If Q107 ever decides to turn up HD Radio, that will diminish 106.9's limited proposed coverage area.
