NBC Sparks Some Fan Fury By Delaying Canada/Finland Game

If Canada is the team that the U.S. will be facing for Olympic Gold, you have to wonder what they were thinking over at NBC. True, there weren't any American competitors involved, but there was still likely to be high interest in the match, with so many familiar NHL players involved.

At first, it looked like the network would be showing the face-off on its USA Cable Network. But disgruntled American fans found women's speed skating there instead. Only those paying for its Peacock streamer got to see it live.

The delayed replay didn't begin on the cable outlet until 11:50 AM, more than an hour after it had already started. Outraged fans blasted the network on social media, wondering why they made that decision on such a pivotal match.

“Why is my USA channel playing speed skating??? Nonsense BS! All your stars yet I have to have peacock to watch??? I hate streaming services related to sports!!” [one] commented.

“Everywhere I look, I see that @USANetwork is supposed to be broadcasting the CAN/FIN hockey semifinal. Yet — they aren’t,” another added."

Which just goes to show you that you really can't please all of the people all of the time. But hey, at least those in Buffalo may have been able to tune it in on the CBC!

The one sure thing you can say is that if Canada meets the U.S. for gold on the weekend, both countries will get it live at the same time.
