Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

Whether you thought Lowell was a champion of common sense or just a cranky old guy who stayed on the air long past his prime, there’s no doubt he was a force in Ottawa AM radio. RIP Mr. Green.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

An incredible 56 years on the air at the same station, CFRA. And he occasionally would appear on CFRB if memory serves. Quite a career and he made it to 89.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

Yeah he was a cunthole. That is all.

His legacy will be lighter-in-the-loafers than Rush Limbaugh's - a blessing to the foliage growing above his plot, but a warning to currently relevant culture warriors - you will be forgotten, and all of your rage will amount to nothing.

He ran as an Ontario Liberal Party candidate for Ottawa Centre.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

I recall him being on CFRB also. He had commentary posts on Facebook up until last week. I never paid much attention to him so I do not share the extreme view of a couple posts above. RIP.

You seem nice.  🙄

I keep wondering why I quit this board every so often, only to get lured back in again.  Weakness, I guess.

I, for one, value your presence and contributions here and hope you won't let one disagreeable post drive you away.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

I think Lowell worked at CKOY for a couple of years.

He did, Ale Ont.  I worked with him for a couple of years there in the early 1980s.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

They also moved his show to CFMO-FM for a while to help fill the easy listening station's talk requirement.

Thanks, RA.  But using a term like that to describe a recently deceased radio veteran is extremely disagreeable.

Re: Lowell Green dead at 89

Here is the presentation video used when RTDNA presented Lowell with a Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2006.  It includes a comical acknowledgement from then Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VELq8dTVbVA
