How You Can See The Full CFNY Documentary That TVO Cut Down

"The Spirit of Radio" documentary on CFNY was well received but it wasn't complete. There was a lot more than meets the eye, after TVO - which showed it for free last month - ordered it cut down to just 60 minutes. But at least another half hour or so was left on the editing room floor and if you're willing to part with a few bucks, you'll soon be able to watch it all at a local theatre.

Alan Cross lists the places it will be showing on his website and notes even the limited version (still online for free at TVO.org) has been an unqualified success.

The CFNY: The Spirit of Radio documentary is coming to theatres

The Vancouver screening strikes me as being an odd venue. Who on the west coast is/was even aware of CFNY - in it's heyday before possible listening via the internet?

Barrie I think would be a better choice as their signal likely made it that far. Even if there was a theatre here in Sudbury scheduled to show it I'd question if that was a good idea, but better Sudbury than Vancouver.

I know quite a few people who hopped from Toronto to Vancouver for work or family reasons (and the other direction, too) - even retirement - so they might be wanting to hit that crowd out in Vancouver that'd remember it. Plus, the documentary has many elements that resonate in wider Canadiana as well - The Barenaked Ladies, Rush, Blue Rodeo, Edgefests, etc. - that I think it's also a love letter to the Canadian music/entertainment scene and not only the one station.
