Melanie Ng Leaves City (& The City) For Calgary

She'd previously departed BT but was still doing updates on City's 24/7 webcast. But now longtime employee Melanie Ng has left not only the station but Toronto. She's relocated to Calgary with her family although it's not clear if she landed a gig there.

She'd been on the morning show for 11 years before stepping aside in 2022 and she spent 15 years overall with the station.

Re: Melanie Ng Leaves City (& The City) For Calgary

Speaking of City TV, one of its former longtime engineers is now looking for work. Lane Steinhauer was at the station for decades before switching over to Bell's CTV to serve as the Director of Engineering. He was a fixture for years at both stations and is an old acquaintance of mine. And he was great at his job.

But Bell apparently didn't care and, after 43 years, he was one of many caught in a recent wave of layoffs at the company. I hope he finds another gig soon. He's one of the good guys.

Lane trained me back in the 80s, (routing for transfers etc), he was patient, good natured and knew his stuff. I am sorry to hear of his layoff, especially at this stage of his career. As RadioActive, said, he is definitely one of the good guys and I wish him all the best.

Melanie Ng may be gone from Toronto, but not from CityNews. According to Broadcast Dialogue, she's now anchoring online via CityNews 24/7 Calgary, returning to her old stomping grounds in a new city. She left Toronto in December to move out west with her family.

How far in advance will they have to film Devo's farewell segment with Dina?
