It's a growing trend in broadcasting and it's probably certain to only get bigger - the use of an A.I. announcer "hosting" a radio show. I'm not sure if it's happened yet in Canada, but Australia has become one of the first countries in the world to require all broadcasters to disclose if the voice hosting a show is real or a bot.
"For the first time, the code explicitly regulates the use of artificial intelligence in broadcasting. Under the new rules, commercial radio stations will be required to inform audiences when a synthetic voice is used to host a regularly scheduled program or news bulletin.
The change follows the revelation that a weekday presenter known as Thy on CADA [an Aussie Hip Hop station] had been on air for six months before listeners were told the voice was an AI clone. The incident marked the first major public controversy involving artificial intelligence in Australian radio and prompted wider industry scrutiny."
It's the first, but I hope not the last. I usually accuse the CRTC of having too many rules in place for broadcasters here, but this is one I'd like to see implemented in Canada. Especially when it comes to newscasts.
New radio code forces stations to declare AI voices to listeners

I don't necessarily have an issue with the number of CRTC rules, it's the relevance of some (most?) of them in the digital age.
That aside, for the sake of the industry I hope this legislation becomes the standard.
