Did You Know CBC Radio Had A Podcast About Radio?

It's a political show but I don't think it ever ran on the Corp's airwaves. It was made in 2021 and was called "Flame Throwers."

It traces the history of extreme right wing talk radio in the U.S. - a phenomenon that is, sadly, stronger than ever. It stretches from the 1920s to the modern day. It's hosted by Justin Ling, who is now a full time columnist with the Toronto Star.

Here's the logline:

"Ling takes us from the fringe preachers and conspiracy peddlers of the 1920s to the political firestorm that rages today. With humour and candour, Ling examines the appeal of broadcasters like Rush Limbaugh, who found a sleeping audience, radicalized it, and became an accidental kingmaker — culminating in the election of Donald Trump."

Only 6 episodes exist, but it's always fascinating to me when radio looks at itself. You can find it here.
