Alan Cross: Radio Is Not Dead In Canada & Is, In Fact, Thriving

He cites a new Numeris study that shows the state of the medium isn't as dire as some would have you believe.

Radio: Still thriving in Canada. Here are the latest listener statistics.

Statistics only tell part of the story.

Of course radio is not dead. Pfui! as Nero Wolfe would say.

{see also: that scene from the Holy Grail ("I think I'll go for a walk") and of course, the parrot sketch...}

"Reach" statistics are almost meaningless unless your name is CBC..... Canadian commercial radio revenue declines by nearly 4% per year for eight years straight, it's completely unsustainable. That's a loss of $367 million Canadian dollars if you're wondering why budgets keep getting slashed

Thank you, Stan, for being a rare source of real information here. Where would a solid part of Numeris' business go without radio? It's no surprise they'd cherry pick numbers to remain viable themselves.
