His official title is "National Director of Talk & Talent for Corus Entertainment." But he's the guy in charge of what you hear on AM640. He spent over 12 years at CFRB in a similar role. But now Mike Bendixen goes back to his earliest days of broadcasting - hosting a show of his own.
He's co-anchoring with Mike Drolet on the Ben Mulroney show this week, and it will be interesting to see how he handles the assignment.
I still remember the first time I heard of Bendixen. It was on a NT1010 show called "Generation Next," that featured a number of younger people expressing their opinions (including a still new Ryan Doyle.) He's certainly gone on to bigger things, but this will be one of his first regular shifts back on air.

I think it's great when managers get in the trenches and help out when needed.

Sure, but it could lead to awkward air-checks when your boss doesn't do the thing they tell you to do

Like the awkward Morning Host/PD positions in smaller markets.

Mike would be great all by himself but Drolet is an insurance policy of the highest quality.

And not just smaller markets, Neil Hedley, formerly with Zoomer radio, was a morning host and PD in Toronto, a large market. It allegedly didn’t end well although he was all over that station for a couple of years.

He'll do that. When Astral launched EZRock in Ottawa, he was morning host but also came in Saturday nights to host their party show live.

That figures as he did AM740’s Saturday nights “party” show as well, in fact, it was hard not to hear him on that station at the time, as he also did a fair bit of endorsement work, including Frank Leo’s ads. I have no idea what he’s up to now.

According to his LinkedIn page, Neil Hedley has been the Creative Director for Knopp Studios in Toronto for the past 4 years. Their website describes them as helping "podcasters, creators, and brands shape their ideas into work people actually want to listen to."
The site says the place is based in Toronto, but his resume indicates he's in Victoria, B.C.

I always thought Neil was super talented.

I don't think that's why he is doing it
