I'm enjoying Crouse's New Year's Day show. I appreciate that 1010 made the effort. It's been a mix of live interviews with Zoom guests along with a couple of pretaped interviews with him serving as the unifying host through all that.

Some technical "gremlins" and Richard mentioned his board op - who he also chatted with on-air - is based in Montreal today. He's had to apologize a few times for them not being able to reach a guest. (When they finally did reach one guest it seemed they therefore only had 3 or 4 minutes to talk to them instead of a full 12-15.)  At one point we heard that board op out over the air on the stream ("Can you hear me?") lining up the next guest during the top-of-hour Canadian Press news break!

Crouse mentioned it was one thing after another today, even getting to the station with a subway shutdown and Uber ride difficulties, throwing off his game for the prep time in studio ahead of time and talking about the tension in his voice and bearing with him as he got through the show. Props for being transparent with the audience. I have to think a board op locally in Toronto would've alleviated some of this - but of course, overtime pay (and if they could get someone more senior to work the shift), and Bell's not exactly about to extend money on their radio holdings unless they absolutely feel they need to.
