To those who celebrate, Merry Christmas.
To those who do not celebrate, have a nice Thursday.

Thanks Jug!
What's really interesting to me is how many radio stations go all Christmas for the season. Ratings prove year after year that it works, so it's hard to argue with the strategy.
But it's also true that Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, which means a large part of its population does not celebrate this holiday. There are Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and more, not to mention Atheists and Agnostics. For them, this is just another day. Add up the numbers and there's a lot of them.
Not to play the Grinch, but who is programming for them?

Excellent question, and I do not pretend to know the answer. The all Christmas format is fascinating to me. If you would have walked into my office and said, "hey, let's go all Christmas music," I probably would have thought you were crazy and asked you to leave quietly. Hence why I do not program a radio station. It works, and it's a good example of people voting with their feet (or fingers) and wallets. It makes you wonder how many other good programming ideas have not yet been born. Also, you mentioned a nice selection of religions - and I guess all of the above are just thankful for movies and Chinese food on Christmas.

The beautiful thing about other religions and celebrating something different is that Shoppers drug mart, movie theatres and select other businesses can be open on Christmas day without Christians & others of similar faith having to work that day.
Then also, there's something as simple as the TTC bus driver.
I remember one time a Christian bus driver said to me "Extra bonus pay for this day, sure, but it's not even worth it...better to be with family..."
Those of another religion can take their special day(s) off to drive the bus on the 25th instead, and perhaps be very happy to do so.
Since this is a radio board, it's also nice if a talk radio station can get the Jewish that be to come in and do a show live on Christmas day. CFRB used to let this happen. I am not sure if that is still the case today.
