Can A.I. Write A Catchy Jingle?

Could a bot come up with "I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke" or "Like A Good Neighbour, State Farm Is There?"

Some people doubt it. A.I. is able to come up with tunes, a few of which have even hit the Billboard charts. But an earworm? That's the question researchers are looking as the technology continues to develop.

For now, the author of a piece in The Atlantic thinks the answer is no.

"Good commercial music needs to target people’s emotions, and AI music is bad at doing that, at least for now. In one analysis by Stephen Arnold Music and SoundOut, a music-testing company, AI generally was not able to deliver tracks that matched the emotions requested by the prompters. [Musicologist Rami] Krishnaswami told me that, although AI can produce good jingles right now, “I’m not sure about ‘great’ yet.”

One great bit of trivia from the article below: that infamous non-stop "Liberty Insurance" TV commercial you've seen a million times, with the jingle that goes “Liberty, Liberty, Liiiberty, Liiiberty.” was originally planned to be slightly different.

"Liberty Mutual’s CMO, Jenna Lebel, told me that they originally tested a version of the song that repeated liberty six times, but they felt that was a bit much and cut it down to four, which went over well."

God Save The Jingle

Ai already writes music, so jingles should be easy.  Ultimately it is the client who will decide if the jingle is going to be used, so the human factor is still there anyway.

Then who's making the decisions for Spence Diamonds?! 🤨
