Joe Bowen Night

It was wonderful watching the tribute to Joe.   It's been years since I've listened to a Leafs game on the radio, so in his honour I tuned into the Leaf game on TV and turned on the radio.    Of course it wasn't him.  His son was filling in that night.   But it took some brain work when I remembered that AM radio is ahead of TV.    The gap between OTA radio and 'cable' video was incomprehensible.   Impossible to sync.    I immediately tuned in via 1050's website and BINGO!    I had to hit the pause button while watching Rogers Sportsnet for about 5 seconds, and another tap or two to perfect it, but damm, I nailed it!   Perfect sync!

It's also a Hell of a better listen than Sportsnet because of fewer commercials.

I haven't listened to a game on the radio while watching the TV since the '70s.   I was a kid tuning in to a game by the Boston Bruins on WBZ and catching it on TV at the same time.

Talk about 'Homers'.   The Boston version of the game was not was I was watching.     But there was still Bobby Orr and company.
