Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I have to couch this one with question marks because I accidentally tuned in the Greg Carrasco Show on Sauga960 Saturday, while doing a band sweep. I got in late, so I can’t 100% confirm what I missed, but it appears NewsTalk 1010, which he continually made reference to on air, has hired Carrasco to host an automotive talk show on the station. My guess is it will air sometime on the weekends in the New Year.

He had conspiracy specialist Richard Syrett on as a guest (another former Sauga host) and they both kept referring to “Rob” Turner, the P.D. at ‘RB, where Syrett says he started his career as a board operator.

Left unanswered is whether Carrasco will still be doing his show on 960 if he’s also appearing on 1010. He’s on Saturday and Sunday morning for several hours for what I believe is a paid time program. Is it likely Bell would let him appear on another GTA outlet when he’s doing a show for 1010? Perhaps, if ‘RB does not consider Sauga much of a threat, which I’m guessing they don’t.

But if not, the Mississauga broadcaster would have to find someone to fill up to 4 hours or more on weekends.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

He starts at CFRB   on Dec 13   from 1000am until 100pm

He already done 640 and 1050....It sounds like he's leaving 960
He is now involved in two car dealerships:   Direct Nissan and also a Ford dealer

At least it will, for the most part, be live programming

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I never listen to 1010 Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm anyway, so nothing will change for me.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

Too bad, as I usually listen to Dave Trafford’s “On the Ledge” Saturdays at 10am on CFRB. I guess I’ll be listening to the podcast from now on. Not a huge Carrasco fan, as I always feel that he’s trying to sell me something, which he usually is!

He has/had a show called "Holy Shift" but whether that continues with his move to 1010 remains to be seen.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I want to see him a few years ago to buy a car at his dealership. We talked for about 60 minutes about my potential purchase and then he went off on a tangent talking about certain things that we're going on in the world at that time. (my perception of him is that he is a bit unique 🤔)He said he would send me the details for a couple of vehicles I was deciding between. I never got the email, sent him two more emails.... still nothing so I went to another dealership. Unique + terrible business follow up!! CFRB must be extremely hard up for on air talent

Very good chance he's paying for the time.

Flipping around channels, in search of something not promoting fancy coloured diamonds or disability lawsuits, I did stumble upon Trafford's On the Ledge show a couple of times.  Yes, it was good.  Too good to last in the wasteland of paid shill weekend 'talk' radio, I guess.

Greg Carrasco>
As my grandmother used to say, he keeps turning up like a bad penny.
Still don't know what that means but she might also refer to him as "a fart in a fair."
That one's a bit more understandable.
Also reminds me of a line from this one comedian who said, "Today I farted in an elevator, that was wrong on many levels."

There may be a connection between this and having worked at every dealer in the GTA.

That and me nicknaming him Greg Carrasshole.when I worked with him.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I respect the fact that he came to Canada with nothing, served our country in our Armed Forces and has made himself into a guy who doesn't rely on our over burdened gov't benefits systems. I would imagine he pays his fair share of taxes in an amount way more than I do. I congratulate him. It smells like jealousy to keep throwing shade on him on this forum, especially anonymously.  To set the record straight, I met him once, when delivering a vehicle to the Nissan dealership in Oakville when he worked there several years ago. I found him a
pleasant man to converse with. Other than that, I have no connection to him whatsoever.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

Just heard the first promos for the new Carrasco show on Thursday over NT1010. Obviously, he can't still be live on 'RB and on Sauga960 at the same time.

CKNT has now updated its site to show what will take his place on weekend mornings. But it appears the motor mouth hasn't severed all his ties with the Mississauga station. His other show, a Christian Ministry program called "Holy Shift," is still listed on the Sauga website, so it looks like he'll be talking cars on one station and God on the other.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I notice that Carrasco spots for his dealership are now airing regularly on CFRB. Shades of Jack Berkovits, who would buy spots for his jewellery stores on whatever station was taking his old show, ads that would suddenly disappear when that program went off the air.

I'm guessing it's the same arrangement with Carrasco, as part of his deal for the Saturday gig.

The show is a perk of buying the spots.

Yes, that was my initial impression, as well.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

I don't know much about car dealerships but he has changed so many times I get the impression he has no real interest in selling cars, but has found he can make a good living out of it.
That's fine, but just don't expect anything he says is really sincere.
He just says whatever while making him money.
The other day I happened to tune in when he was talking about the disadvantages of driving a manual transmission -- something I have done all my life.
He argued against it saying so few people drive standard now buying one would devalue your car.
I notice his dealerships do not sell standards so of course he is going to say they are no good.
By the way I tend to drive my cars for a long time so resale value is pretty irrelevant.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

Makes sense to me that buying standard does limit resale value, possibly significantly.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

So I did tune in on Saturday, by mistake! I forgot Dave Trafford’s “On the Ledge” was replaced, too bad, as I found it informative and well produced. Didn’t stick with Carrasco very long, not my type of show.

Re: Greg Carrasco Coming To CFRB

At least Jack Berkovits' (whatever happened to him, anyway?) paid-for 'show' was entertaining in a loony, self-serving train wreck kind of way.  Carrasco is just irritating, regardless of whatever brand of vehicle he's selling this week.

Jack Berkovits dropped by in August for a lengthy chat about everything.
