She was one of the last mainly sports-only reporters in the GTA. But like many TV stations in the market, it's now game over for City TV's Lindsay Dunn. The longtime court side personality is leaving the station, and will be heard on Raptors 905 broadcasts and podcasts instead. She'd been with City for 8 years.
There's no word on whether it was her choice - or Rogers.

I am very sorry to hear that! Lindsay is a great reporter! I wish her all the best and hope to see her again on TV.

She was quite possibly their best current reporter. I would not be surprised if she asked for a raise and that’s a death wish with Rogers, they’re terrible at retaining talent, just watch their news for proof.

Sadly, this is part of a long-standing trend in Toronto TV news. Remember when City had Jim McKenny, John Gallagher, Kathryn Humphries and even occasionally John Whaley all covering sports? Now only 680 News has anyone solely devoted to sports and most of those are just giving the scores and a few headlines.
CFTO is no better. Many here will recall Joe Tilly, Lance Brown and others. All gone and now viewers are lucky if they briefly mention sports at all, giving a highlight or two from a Raptors or Leaf games before moving on. (The Jays run was covered mostly by Sean Leathong, a general assignment reporter.)
The days of sports reporters on local TV is gone. Viewers are not better off for it.

Is Lindsay Dunn staying with Rogers but moving to Raptors 905?. I don't think she would be working for Sauga 960.

Broadcast Dialogue indicates she'll be continuing as a "sideline reporter" for Raptors 905. Who will hear her do that, it doesn't say.

Just passed by CKTB and heard Rod Mawhood. He's probably the last fulltime sports director of his kind left at a radio station in the Southern Ontario market. They are a vanishing breed, if not nearly extinct. Yes, 680 has sports announcers, but this guy does an actual show on Saturdays called Niagara Sports Report.
He's been with the station for years, and good on new owner White Oaks for not cutting back in that department.

It wouldn't surprise me if she will be heard on Sauga 960, but merely due to 960 picking up a feed. (with Rogers or another source being the actual source paying her)

Who said it wasn't her choice? She very clearly had a job lined up and left City on her own terms

She was already doing the Raptors 905 stuff.

Rogers has Sportsnet and Bell has TSN, yet rarely if ever are any sports people from those wholly owned properties heard or seen on the corpses' radio stations. Is this a union and/or compensation issue or just stupidity?

She's just another in a long list of former sports broadcasters going into the digital space to find work with, or start an independent sports podcast/streaming business. That's where the future is going.

The shouldn't be any sports reporters or weather reporters.
If local TV news is going to survive (it's not), all resources should be put into actual local news *investigation* and reporting -- not wasted on things you can find out in 20 seconds on Twitter.

There is value to having a well connected sports reporter. They can uncover a lot of scoops by talking to players and coaches, who can tell them things off the record, which they can use to get at a team's plans. Can't do that if they're not there.
But the days of things like Global's Sportsline on commercial TV are definitely done.

To clarify, I mean that local TV stations shouldn't have them.
Leave that to sports TV and radio. If they actually uncover something newsworthy, they can air it on the local news.

If I were watching a sports report from a local news station. It would be CHCH. Clint “Bubba” O’Neil is an excellent sports anchor and podcaster. I do remember sports anchors from CFTO like Joe Tilley, and Lance Brown. But CTV London still kinda has a sports report but a segment that airs every Wednsday called “The Tee Up With Brent Lale” who used to be the weekend sports anchor at CTV London.
I also meet someone who used to be a sports anchor at CTV Kitchener named Darren Stevenson who now runs a local online sports report called “519 Sports Online” which covers local sports accross Southwestern Ontario. So if I wanted to watch a recap of my favourite Jr.B hockey team. I would watch it on there.
If you want to check it out here is the link to 519 Sports.
