It used to be called Ryerson's Radio And Television Arts, aka RTA. Now the college is known as MTU, but the degree course still exists. And if you graduated from there, this may interest you.
The Slaight Family has donated a million dollars to the college to help keep the famous educational program going. Although the industry has changed and many in the younger demos no longer even listen to or watch radio and TV, there's still enough interest to keep it going, even as other colleges are shutting similar courses down. And the money will help make sure it stays "on the air."
"The funding will support new and ongoing initiatives that give students access to industry mentorship, live production experience, and leading-edge technology — expanding opportunities for emerging storytellers to develop their voices and careers."
Here's hoping there are still jobs around for them to fill once they graduate.
