Canada's most famous troubadour may be gone, but the tools of his trade live on - along with his many hit songs. 

Now some of those "tools" will be sold to the highest bidder as a Texas auction house offers dozens of Gordon Lightfoot's most prized possessions. They range from paintings inspired by the "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" that once hung in his bedroom to the guitar pictured on the cover of the album "Sundown" that he played on the LP. Current bid there: $16,000.

An acoustic guitar he once used already has a bid of over $5,000, a gold record he earned can be yours for a bid over $76, and a poster of his tour dates out east is one of the most affordable - it currently has a bid of just $1. 

"There's an array of Lightfoot's most recognizable outfits, a selection of his amplifiers, his Canada's Walk of Fame trophy and his Songwriters Hall of Fame award presented to him in 2012 by Steve Miller.

Some of the guitars in the auction are particularly significant.

His 1967 Gibson B45-12 Sunburst acoustic will be familiar to fans, as it was nestled beside Lightfoot on the cover of his 1974 album Sundown and used in other photo shoots. The auction house calls it "a vital part of Lightfoot's musical journey."
