It's not often you see an entire radio chain profiled in a Canadian newspaper. But this article about Golden West Broadcasting published out west in the Winnipeg Sun reads more like a paid commercial for the company. The overly rich praise for the place seems more like a PR exercise than a story. But it's not marked as an ad.
Nice to see radio is still remembered in the pages of print. But this one is a bit over the top.

I agree, it reads like sponsored content. Wonder if Golden West will ever operate or buy any stations in Ontario. Other than Winnipeg, they focus on smaller markets.

Golden 'West has been selling off stations for example, the "rim shooter" in Ft. Saskatchewan which gets into Edmonton was sold a couple of years ago. They've sold off a few other properties. Elmer is getting quite old (90 years old) and the succession plan is not clear. They have had some upper management changes due to illness. Not certain whether they would be in an expansion mode.

Is it mere coincidence that they used the same name as Gene Autry and Bob Reynolds used when they set up their company in 1951? Among their holdings was KTLA-TV Los Angeles and the California Angels baseball team.
