It may be the last thing you'd expect to see on a drama about lawyers - a real life crime case. But that's what happened halfway through the filming of this season's "Matlock," starring Kathy Bates. You may not recognize the name David Del Rio, but you know his face. He's the actor who plays one of the more inexperienced lawyers on the show, sharing an office with another actor, Leah Lewis.
In a bit of real life drama you couldn't script, Lewis alleges Del Rio sexually assaulted her, resulting in his being immediately fired and escorted off the set. The writers will now have to figure out a way to suddenly remove him from future scripts since he won't be returning to the show.
It's not clear if any charges will be filed, but perhaps his biggest punishment will come if this means the end of his acting career. The show, which was one of broadcast TV's few big hits last year on CBS, doesn't return to your screens until this coming Sunday. And since the two people involve share an office and are frequently seen interacting together, it will be kind of creepy watching the scenes they have together.
