WFAN's Call Of Vladdy's Game 2 Grand Slam Is Revealing

I guess there's nothing wrong with being a homer if you're an announcer employed by a pro sports team, but you could at least acknowledge when an opponent does something amazing in a playoff game. You may have heard the replay of WFAN's Yankee play-by-play announcers calling Vladimir Guerrero's epic grand slam during Sunday's game at the Rogers Centre.

Needless to say, it sounded like they were reading the phone book. It's become something of another wedge for Toronto fans, who often feel the swaggering Yankees are too big for their britches.

If you missed this epic call, you can hear it here. Just try not to fall asleep.

The Toronto Star has a small column about what the NY media and selected celebrities had to say about the game 1 drubbing and it was even better reading it this morning knowing that they were thumped again in game 2.    Sadly, there's no sign of a column on the same for game 2.

To be fair, Dan Schulman didn't overly excited when the Yankees got a home run. Much more energy when the Jays went yard.

True, but if you weren't really listening hard, you would not have even been able to tell something important had happened in the game. I've never heard a more lifeless and uninterested grand slam call in my life, no matter what team hit it.

No doubt about it. A bad homer call by a "homer" announcer.

I always receive messages from MLB and NBA as to what is happening with players, games etc.  In these messages there are always pictures of players from the baseball and basketball teams and never have I seen a player in any of those pictures from the Blue Jays or the Raptors.  I guess the Canadian teams are not that important....in their eyes.
