In Case You Missed It: History Of The Sitcom Airing On CHCH Friday

I'm pretty sure this is a rerun of the CNN series that ran in 2021, but if you missed it or don't get CNN, it's worth a watch. "The History Of The Sitcom," is an 8 part series that traces one of TV's most famous genres, with categories ranging from Sex on TV comedies, Family and Friends, Race Relations, Workplaces and more.

Each episode deals with a different aspect of sitcoms throughout the history of the medium and how they've changed over the years.

It was a great series and I can't think of a better station to air it than CHCH, which already airs classic comedies as part of its daily line-up. Each hour long episode runs Fridays at 8 PM. Well worth it, if you've never seen it or want to watch it again.

Another intriguing sounding show on Channel 11 is a mini-series I've never heard of, based on a Stephen King novel. It's called "11-22-63."

It's about a guy who's tasked with going into the past to try and stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and what happens when he attempts to find Lee Harvey Oswald and change history.

The first episode airs this Sunday at 9 PM, and the next two are being shown the following Sunday between 8 and 10 at night.

I have no idea if this is good or not, but it aired in 2016 on Hulu, a streaming service that's not available in Canada. I love time travel shows based on real history and it may be worth a watch.

If this sounds interesting to you but you don't have weeks worth of patience to wait and see the whole thing, it's also showing for free on the U.S. version of Tubi, although you'll need a VPN set to the States. No sign in is required.

I've read the book and am looking forward to seeing this. Thanks for letting us know.

This show has been available to stream on Amazon Prime in Canada and Apple TV.  Interesting that it was also produced by Warner Bros. Canada and filmed in Ontario in such locations as Hamilton, Cambridge, and Ayr. Good on CHCH for picking up the mini series.

Just in case you're planning to record this off CHCH, it now appears there are two episodes airing Sunday night, the first part at 8 PM, the second following at 9. My DVR guide does not reflect that, showing one hour only, but other sources do, so I'll trust them.
