At last! Something worthwhile to watch on The CW. The network has announced an 8-part series coming next month called "TV We Love." Each episode explores the behind-the-scenes story of an iconic television show, with the first episode focusing - appropriately enough - on the pioneering "I Love Lucy."
Other series to be profiled include The Brady Bunch,” “The Love Boat,” “The Honeymooners,” “Happy Days,” “Dynasty,” “Cheers” and “Touched by An Angel.”
"Every episode will include cast members, creators, scholars and television insiders, detailing some of the moments and insights behind why those shows remain iconic to this day.
Among the talking heads on the docuseries: Keith Thibodeaux (“I Love Lucy”); Barry Williams and Christopher Knight (“The Brady Bunch”); Fred Grandy and Ted Lange (“The Love Boat”); Don Most and Scott Baio (“Happy Days”); Al Corley, Jack Coleman and Pamela Sue Martin (“Dynasty”) and Roma Downey (“Touched By An Angel”)."
Thibodeaux, in case the name isn't familiar, was the kid who played Little Ricky as a child on "Lucy." He's one of the last surviving members of the cast.

You can watch the show - provided you can get The CW - beginning Monday Oct. 13th. Fittingly, that was the night that "Lucy" aired on CBS.

I was hoping for the Tubes' greatest hits. However, this will do.

I mentioned this show a few weeks ago and realized not everybody gets The CW. But you can still watch it, even if you don't have Channel 23 or WPIX in your cable package. I just noticed that City TV has also picked up this documentary about the history of some iconic television shows. It airs Monday nights at 9 PM, beginning tomorrow (Oct. 13th.)
It's eight parts and traces a different show every week, beginning with "I Love Lucy." Here's the logline:
"This nostalgic docuseries celebrates eight of America's most iconic television shows and the indelible mark they left on popular culture. Kicking off with a deep dive into "I Love Lucy"—widely regarded as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time—"TV We Love" explores the groundbreaking partnership of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, whose comedic brilliance and bold business moves forever changed television."
