Announcement comes tomorrow with Greg Brady. Any bets? Me? Steve Paikin.

He'd be a great addition, but what time slot would he be given?
Offline
That's an excellent question.

Ever wonder what the studio Brady works out of looks like? Here's a glimpse from a Twitter/X post. Notice that the TV is set to CP24 - and not Global.
Offline
Yeah...does this mean someone is out? If so, I'll wager Brady and Mulroney are safe and would put my money elsewhere.
No issue with CP24 being on in the studio...we all know the layout and it's running that format all day long. Global flips to lifestyle programming at 9am.

I'm sure it's Vassy Kapelos. Here's the PR:
Corus Entertainment is thrilled to welcome The Vassy Kapelos Show, in partnership with Orbyt Media, to its weekend Talk Radio lineup, beginning Saturday, September 6.

Weird.

If this is true, she's giving up a 5-day a week radio show on iHeart, her nightly program on CTV News Channel and the Sunday Question Period hour for a weekend show for a struggling media company?
I'm not saying you're wrong, but if that's the deal, it doesn't sound like a very good one.

No, it would be both. Bell offers her show for syndication.

I'd seriously miss Vassy on 1010.
Wonder who it could be if it's not Vassy.
Hmmm.
Howard Stern may be looking for a new gig so.... (JK as the youngsters say)

Orbyt Media is Bell. So no, she's not leaving Bell. And yes, it is weird that this show is on 640 and not 1010.
Offline
Corus and Bell only overlap in talk radio in Toronto, and 1010's not even trying on weekends. This way they get revenue from Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and 640.

But wouldn't that take her off CFRB, to be replaced with what? It doesn't make sense she'd be on both stations at the same time.
Also, she doesn't currently do a Saturday show. So would this be adding yet another program or a best-of her current shows? If so, she'd be on 7-days-a-week. (She gets Fridays off, but does interviews and preps for Question Period on that day.)
Who could withstand that pace?
It's probably just yours truly, but this doesn't make any sense to me.

It will be interesting if Greg interviews her on his show opposite Moore

This is where this new syndicated show will air on the Corus network:

So a de facto Roy Green replacement. I find it hard to believe Bell would allow one of their biggest stars to appear on the competition, but I suppose if there's money in it, there are no boundaries for them.

They're already packaging a weekend best-of show for their own stations.
Bell is picking syndication revenue over 1010 weekend ratings (which are basically nil anyway)

Now up on Broadcast Dialogue:
Corus talk network adds The Vassy Kapelos Show to weekend lineup
God knows where she'll find the time.

This.
On weekends, 1010 has no listeners left to lose.

And 640 has listeners to gain with this move? Weekend tuning is almost gone.
The Bell syndication angle makes sense but I don't get why Corus would add the show to their lineup or how they can afford it, given their cash flow issue.

So just to add it all up:
-She does a cross-Canada weekday radio show for two hours over iHeart Monday-Thursday.
-She hosts CTV's Power Play at 5PM on CTV's All News Channel
-She fronts Question Period on CTV on Sundays
-She does a podcast "That Just Happened" that drops every Friday.
-And she's doing Saturdays over Corus stations.
Plus, she's a mom and has a family, as well as anchoring any breaking political news. That is completely insane. How long can someone keep up that kind of schedule?

I'm guessing the 2-hour weekly show will have some new content and the rest might be re-rolls from her weekday show that Corus listeners (especially out west) have probably not heard yet.

It's almost certainly what they're already producing for themselves and no extra work for her.

Probably all barter.

For sure, they're just now selling it to external parties.

Right, quite likely.

Here's the Metro Morning competition. With complimentary fruit bowl.

Is this a live show or just a repeat of her interviews on 1010??

Vassy turned up for a live interview on AM640 Friday morning, helping to promote her new weekend show.
This is a very surreal moment. I honestly can't think of an occasion where a very high profile personality on one radio station or network is now on two at once, including their nearest competition. Can you imagine CFRB's Wally Crouter doing a syndicated show and it wound up on CKEY?
There was a time when exclusivity was an inviolate rule. Times in radio have certainly changed.
