13 "New" Beatles Tracks To Be Released This Fall

Really, there doesn't seem to be an end to exploiting the legacy of the Beatles. The most recent example is coming later this year, with the release of yet another Beatles Anthology, some remixes and - perhaps the most interesting part of the announcement - 13 never before heard tracks.

"The 191-track set will be released on streaming platforms and in 12 vinyl LP and eight CD formats, featuring unreleased demos, session recordings and other rare tracks, alongside new mixes of Free As A Bird and Real Love, the singles from Anthology 1 and 2."

And it's not just music. The 4th Anthology set will also be seen as a Disney+ special, with never before seen footage of the Fab Four.

The last time the Beatles put out anything "new," it involved using A.I.-enhanced technology to improve a John Lennon vocal  with the release of a song called "Now & Then" in November 2023. It garnered a lot of publicity, although it was nothing like original times of the original Beatles.

RA, from the minor research I've done, I believe the "13 new tracks" are really just track-takes, aka unreleased composition steps on the way to the final products we all know so well.

However, there are strong hints at one 'new' song.

They broke up 55 years ago.

John was assassinated almost 45 years ago.

George succumbed to cancer 24 years ago.

Both Ringo and Paul continue their musical journey.

And more and more younger generations are jumping aboard.

What an incredible journey it's been.

Hence my use of the "new" in quote marks in the title. I doubt if any of them will be much to write home about. If they'd truly been worthwhile, I suspect they would have come out long before this.

I'll likely be picking this up as Anthologies 1-3 have been out of print for a while, so the addition of a fourth volume is a nice bonus. The cynical side of me sees this news and can't help but think, "No$talgia".
