It's no longer coming - it's here.
Pakistan has announced it's created the world's first all Artificial Intelligence TV news network, with computer generated anchors, reporters and even commentators. For now, "Today English News" is, as the name implies, in English, but because it's computer generated, it should soon be available in dozens of languages using the same created "people."
"This ground-breaking venture features a full roster of AI- generated anchors, reporters, analysts, program hosts, and all AI based production, marking a new era for news broadcasting industry. The channel promises to deliver accurate, unbiased, and round-the-clock news coverage to a global audience mainly in English language but AI based live translation feature will be added soon after. This new feature will enable the channel to broadcast the stream in more than 40 languages."
With all the reports of A.I. making things up, I would certainly question the claims it will be "accurate" and "unbiased," especially considering Pakistan's fractious relations with India. Nonetheless, the future is here. How long before this idea spreads to North America?

Too bad they didn’t provide a link as I would be interested in hearing it as I haven’t heard a decent AI presentation yet. I listen to a trivia channel on Spotify that uses AI and it isn’t that great, pronunciations are often wrong for starters and phrasing is quite often off.

I've searched for it, but I don't think they're online. I, too, would like to get a look at it.
"The avatars boast over 1,500 facial movements and sophisticated body gestures, creating a natural and lifelike on-screen presence. This is achieved through the integration of deep learning and advanced natural language processing (NLP), which allows the AI to mimic human speech patterns, expressions, tone, and emotional inflections with astonishing accuracy."
Here's a preview pic I was able to locate off of this site.

Even if it isn't perfect right now, it will be soon enough. I've been interested in AI generative video since it was hinted at a couple of years ago and what it can do today is astonishing. You can now literally take any frame of a movie and just change the entire scene by drawing what you want to see happen next. Example:
I don't know how to upload mp4s to the board, so go check out Min Choi's twitter account for the very cool demo videos that will undoubtedly make it possible for anyone to create $100 million-looking VFX and edit any movie to their liking within a year or two.

The technology is, indeed, impressive.
It's also terrifying.
It reminds me of that old canard: who are you going to believe - me or your own eyes?
Seems neither one is entirely trustworthy anymore.

For sure, video going forward will no longer be an arbiter of the truth. People on TikTok were being fooled by AI-generated video of so-called doorcam security footage of strange animals playing with each other not realizing it was fake. That video is totally convincing if you didn't know it was AI.
Today, there is already a new development with "product to video" AI where you can paste an image of a product that you want inserted into an existing video and not only is the product seamlessly integrated into the original shot, but the characters interact with it naturally:
Anyone will be able to edit their favorite film and just drop themselves into the movie. Our grandkids will customize films to their liking, for better or worse. Things certainly look bleak for anyone in the VFX industry, film industry, modelling, TV commercial production... you name it.
Edit: here's a fun one... drop a life preserver into the climax of Titantic
Jack actually does grab it and puts it on. He may still freeze to death though!

I don't think this A.I. news network will work. The artificial people on screen will never get older. And you know what that means - no head lines!
