The CRTC Could Be Sued Over An Online Radio Station

I'm not even going to try and explain this one. It's happening in Quebec, involves some of the biggest media players there, including Bell, Cogeco and Quebecor. And it has something to do with bypassing traditional radio rules set by the CRTC through a very large loophole. It gets crazier from there.

The CRTC could be sued over an online radio station that has sparked indignation in Quebec

This what happens when it takes the CRTC ten times as long as it should to render a simple decision. Frankly I'm surprised they aren't sued more often.

They're not suing over the fact that it's an online radio station, rather that an FM broadcaster decided to make it their primary programming source.

It definitely blurs the ownership rules, and the suit certainly has grounds.

On a side note, the NatPo butchered one radio boss' name:

"Gordon Rawlson from Rawlco Radio in Saskatchewan also supported Cogeco."

It's actually Rawlinson... Rawlco had a small presence in Ontario in the '90s, with 92.5 CISS-FM Toronto, now part of Rogers, and CFGO 1200 and CJMJ-FM 100.3 Ottawa, both now Bell stations.
