Audio on the web sounds fine, but over the air it's terrible.

It's been bad since music returned. Over compressed (as in some of the soft passages are actually louder than loud ones), there is no bass definition or sense of "punch". That should have been fixed within days. When CKOC was in its heyday, the overall soundd was pretty good as far as AM goes. And believe me, there were record scratches, cue burn and surface noise you could drive a truck through ... and it STILL sounded better.

I imagine CKOC's audio processor from the 60's and 70's is probably long gone. What's there now might have been optimized for voice, since they were a talk station under Bell's ownership.

Fixing the audio issues is one thing. It looks like they're also having trouble keeping some radio people.
The morning show is still in place, but where is Scott Penfold? (Afternoon drive)

This optimization of operation for talk radio could be true.
I listened in the car this afternoon and it wasn't very fulsome sounding by many means.

Anyone know what happened to Scott Penfold? Haven’t heard him in a while.

Yeah, he's missing from the web page, as I already mentioned. I wonder what happened?

I'm not sure if this is the same guy, but there's a Scott Penfold on Linked-In that shows a guy with that name and extensive radio experience. He's based out in Vancouver, but we all know that location no longer matters when being on air in a different market.
If this is him - and again, I'm not sure - he doesn't even bother listing CKOC on his resume. But you have to wonder - how many Scott Penfold's can there be in radio in this country? Anyone know if this is the same guy?

Your link reads "Page not found" but, is this the guy?
This is his pic from Wayback machine's 1150 CKOC January web page.

I went to Wayback machine and found his pic on the CKOC page from last January.
I just checked the link and it works for me. Not sure what's going on.
Try this one:
And yes, that's the pic on his Linked-In page, so it has to be the same guy. Looks like if he lost or left the 1150 gig, he's not out of work!
