I received this email and am wondering if someone can help ID the song. Has a Flock of Seagulls vibe. Some people in the comments mention the Church but it does not sound like them to me. I belive I have just one tape that I recorded that actually has any Great Ontario talent Search contestants and that is from 1983.
My name is ____t. I am trying to identify an unknown song that was recorded off CFNY in 1984 or 1985. It is suspected that it is an entry from their 5th annual “Great Ontario Talent Search”, the first round of which ran from October '84 through February '85. I was wondering if you might have any info which might help (recollections of bands that entered the talent search, notes, recordings, etc.).
Here is a Youtube link to the song:

Almost sounds to me like a fusion of BOC's "... Reaper", and "Happy Birthday Kid" from Geoff Hughes. I'm not able to recognize this track.

According to Shazam, this song is “Central Inevitable Agency” by Paradox V2. Shazam is your friend!

Oh see, I thought that was already attempted. I would not have thought in this day and age that anyone would even ask without trying Shazam first.

Obviously I thought of Shazam and that was already attempted on the YT version of Shazam and gave the same apparently incorrect result as above. The Central Inevitable Agency is probably a phantom non existent song otherwise the gent would not have sent it to me and I reviewed the comments before I sent it here.

YouTube has this feature in the search section which helps you find a song you like, pretty much like Shazam but it's the YouTube version. I put this on the YouTube song search thingy and it gave me a result of a song named "Central Inevitable Agency Paradox V2". I don't know if this is the actual song name but it gave me this. There were no videos that had the relation of the result. No re-uploads, no mention of "Central Inevitable Agency Paradox V2" just other random videos.

Should also mention that there are other comments after the one above suggesting that Paradox V2 is a "copyright troll" name.

Honestly my comments were not a swipe at you. The song has been posted to YT for 5 years now and the Shazam refs started to appear in the comments on YT about 5 months ago. I should have indicated in my initial post to not rely on Shazam. Sorry about that. I had never heard this song until I recived the email on Sunday but I went through the comments before I posted here.
Don't quite know how one creates a "copyright troll" on Shazam but that is somewhat disappointing. Also have run into a few instances when Shazam has provided incorrect results which did not result from "copyright trolling."
Being a collector of moldy old air checks I have found many songs that are not on the Shazam or Soundhound data bases. Example - back in 2019 I found a great set of air check reel to reels at a thrift store auction that had a number of songs not found by Shazam including this one. I searched it again today and it's still not on:
I use it regularly and often but it's not infallible. Also disapointing that a reliable source is not beyond coruption.
