Not just the music part either.  Numerous occasions when people tried to influence news coverage by offering various incentives.  Some of them even worked at the stations. (Sales weasels trying to get the news department to give prospective sponsors a plug included.)

I recall entrants for a cruise contest had their addresses checked out.  I guess the station didn't want  any winners from the wrong side of the tracks!
