I haven't finished the entire thing, but a documentary called "The Sit In - Harry Belafonte Hosts The Tonight Show," relives a historic week in 1968, when Johnny Carson took a week off and chose Harry Belafonte to guest host for him. (It actually came out in 2023.)
It was a controversial pick, because Black people did not often get a network forum to present their views and Belafonte tried to take full advantage of the opportunity. It also upset many in the south, an unfortunate reality in those days.
Even if the tension of the times doesn't appeal to you, the vintage clips from the late 60s show are undeniably fascinating. It was a time when "Tonight" ruled the roost and Johnny Carson had the late night time slot almost to himself.
