The New CKTB Will Include This Old Show

I was relieved to hear the new owners of CKTB are planning to continue the early Sunday morning show when they take over this week.

I've written before about the great dynamic between host Karl Dockstader and his producer Ryan Williams, who spend three hours starting at 6 AM doing an actual honest-to-God live talk show, complete with a local news person at the top of the hour - likely the only one in Southern Ontario.

The duo confirmed on their "Secret Hour" (6-7 AM) that their show would stay on, despite "changes" coming to the station. I would really miss this somewhat loosey-goosey Seinfeldian-like show about nothing. When there isn't anything but rerolls everywhere else, it's a real breath of fresh morning air.

I agree.    Karl is very serious on his Saturday One Dish One Mic show, and has a very different Sunday show.

I wonder what will happen to his Saturday show....it has been heard on CKLW Windsor (Bell), and one of Bell's stations out West.....the Saturday show is hard=hitting commentary and interviews about First Nations issues.   I hope it continues  (at least on CKTB)

Bell is certainly blowing off all of their inventory on CKTB this morning before they hand over the keys tomorrow.  I heard at least 4 Bell Blue Dot phone sale spots (same spots) in a single break on their show.   Ooof!!!!

Re: The New CKTB Will Include This Old Show

I was amused to hear Karl Dockstader and Ryan Williams on their first show under the new ownership praying that the people now in charge weren't listening. Their live Sunday morning chat fest, which starts at 6 AM and as far as I know is the only live and local talk show anywhere in Southern Ontario, got off to a good start, talking about the changes, their new bosses and - for reasons too complicated to explain - the Slap Chop, an old gimmicky TV infomercial.

Glad they're still there and the new people in charge would be crazy to slap chop them off of Sunday mornings.

Also noticed that the simulcast of CP24 was gone on Saturday. They were likely running a reroll, but I can't think of anything less relevant to St. Catharines-Niagara than several hours of Toronto news.

One last observation. I was amused on Friday when Jerry Agar signed off his show and stopped right at the last second. He was about to say "This is the iHeart Radio Network," when it clearly occurred to him he was no longer on CKTB (Gene Valaitis has taken his place.)

After what felt like a long pause, he finished with "This is NewsTalk 1010." Hard to get used to the change after saying it all those years.

Interesting that they've dropped the Trivia Show on Sunday mornings for a reroll of "best of" interviews.

Bell makes Vasy and Night shift available to non-Bell stations through their Orbyt syndication division.
