A lot of Canadians might support this decision, for what happened stateside, but for the CBC. The financial axe fell yesterday for NPR as 1.1 billion dollars was cut from their budget and funding.
The House of representatives passed the motion yesterday and decided to go with the cuts.
Here is more on the story...

This is not a done deal - yet. It still needs to be passed by the Senate. If that happens, one politician who opposed the move said, "They'll kill Big Bird and pave over Sesame Street."

And of that 22% many will be Sun/Post Media readers. The National Post has been cranking out misinformation and misleading articles about CBC since 1998.

When small town hick Brian Lilley was a regular on the defunct, Sun TV network he had a special program called "The CBC Money Drain."
That's all he talked about.
While at the same time the station, run by the vile Ezra Levant who now heads up Rebel Media, was demanding federal government money for SUN TV.
They never got it.
Of course in the US there will probably be some great support for killing NPR.
Trumpism hates anything that smacks of educated thought or critical thinking.
Nationalism is only rewarded if it is white nationalism.
In Canada the most vociferous CBC haters have a similar mindset.
Right wing extremists hate education and critical thinking.
George Orwell knew that.
Cambodian dictator Pol Pot used to have people who wore eyeglasses arrested because he thought that meant they were intellectual.
