Evan Solomon will be hosting weekdays 2-4, replacing Jim Richards. AM 640 must be rejoicing about this: their timeslot features their bored op hosting with minor interjections from Kelly Cultrara.

He's a regular on 1010's morning roundtables. I listened to Evan's Ottawa show on the re-roll overnight when it aired on 1010 from time to time. He's my Coles Notes for current events/politics, along with John Moore, Christie Blatchford and a few others who say what they mean, and mean what they say, to borrow a phrase from Lewis Carroll.
Jim Richards (and his team) have great ways to reframe topics. The scavenger hunt and "ask a " are two of his strongest. Glad Jim is still on Newstalk.

Evan started running his own magazine in the late 90's then was co-host of CBC TV's Sunday Edition, was then host of Power and Politics on CBC...due to a shitty conflict of interest issue was let go by the "Mother Corp"....ended up in Ottawa on CFRA hosting drive home duties...and also becoming the new host of CTV'S Question Period...
I think Evan will be a breath of fresh air back in the "6" on CFRB...and I for one won't miss the Showgram...not one bit...

I haven't heard his show in years (for obvious reasons), but I would imagine that there will be little impact to the substance of Mr.Richard's show as long as he cuts out the pauses for reaction after he delivers the 'punchline' to his 'jokes'.

As expected, station confirms Richards will move to a 12-2 PM shift, starting Tuesday.
