So Bell is the great champion of helping understand mental illness?
Then why did both John Moore and Jerry Agar yesterday find a joke about Margaret Trudeau so funny, and as Moore put it, "saucy."
While reviewing "dad jokes" being sent in for Fathers Day both hosts played a joke sent in by a dad who found the following quite the laugh.
It involved the late PM Pierre Trudeau wanting to do work on his patio so he went out to buy some sand. But when he got back he discovered Margaret already "laying the Stones." as in Rolling Stones.
Moore mentioned the joke again today and how he and Agar had a good laugh
Years ago the mentally ailing Margaret did in fact cavort with the legendary band.
An infamous photo showed her apparently not wearing underwear.
Her behaviour was not actually "saucy" but a result of her bipolar disorder which she has struggled with all her life.
Back then she was not yet diagnosed.
Her affliction led her to have to be committed to a mental hospital for a time in Vancouver.
She has given many lectures about her struggle with mental illness.
Moore and Agar should be aware of this, and should have canned the listener's "joke" about her, certainly not airing it and laughing about it.
What's next? will Bell hold a contest to see who can tell the best "nut case" jokes?

Hey, it's all about "owning the libs", right?

Official stance: "The views of the hosts do not necessarily represent the opinions and beliefs of Bell Media, or the management and staff of CFRB AM. All views expressed are those of the hosts and are their views exclusively."
Off the air: "Good work, our advertisers and listeners are lapping this up."
I swore off any talk radio years ago. 🤨

Me too and my car's dash is appreciative.

not wearing underwear is a symptom of bipolar disorder? Also what does cfrb have to do with Bell's mental health work? As if the two sides of the business even interact. besides, news outlets/media should be independent

This is all George Cope's fault.

According to Keith, in his book 'Life', the only Stone Maggie banged was Ron Wood. Insert your own joke here, regardless of mental illness.

Mental health is important but it's a big stretch to equate that joke to bipolar disorder.

Same here. I REFUSE to listen to WBEN for ANY reason unless my health wants to take a turn for the worse.

"Saucy"? When did John turn 95?

There's no advantage to noting the hypocrisy of the mentally ill slagging other mentally ill people.
There is advantage to making plain that Bell is facilitating it. They're the shadowy figures in the back throwing bills to make bums fight on camera.

No wonder that Brothers of Mercy nursing home (and their sappy jingles) were fervent advertisers on the station. Fits of angina and apoplexy induced by announcers were good for drumming up new patients. 😁
I always thought the Entercom business model of having both right wing and left wing programming was the height of hypocrisy.

As I was reading this thread, I heard an ad on NT1010 about the CBSC. You can file a complaint.
