I've been following the terrible wildfire disaster out west, with people being forced to leave their homes behind without knowing if they will still be there when they come back.
But here's a consequence of the fires I never really thought of before. According to the CBC, several of their stations in Manitoba have been knocked off the air by the flames, and there's no word on when they might be restored. The signals can still be accessed online, presuming, of course, you have power to access it that way.
Radio can be a lifeline in these kinds of emergencies and to lose those signals at such an important time would be horrible. I'm frankly surprised we haven't heard about this happening more often.
