Longtime CBC News Anchor Retiring After 20 Years

Heather Hiscox has been the main anchor on CBC Morning Live on their cable network since it was known as CBC Newsworld. But that all ends this fall, when the veteran news reader officially retires. She's been doing the early AM shift for two decades.

In the long run up to the finale, she'll be taking the show on the road to 'meet Canadians,' before a grand finale in front of a live audience on November 6th - exactly 20 years to the day that she hosted her very first morning show.

CBC's Heather Hiscox to sign off after 20 years hosting national morning news

Re: Longtime CBC News Anchor Retiring After 20 Years

Heather Hiscox is one of Canada’s best news broadcasters.

She co-hosted mornings on CJBK in London with Steve Garrison back around 1990, and then she briefly worked on-air at CFPL-TV. I think she hosted a weekly show there.

On CBC News Network I remember she was on-air when the news of Jack Layton’s passing broke, and Peter Mansbridge entered the studio live to break that news.

Remember Heather at CFPL-FM  (FM 96) in the mid to late 80's when I worked the in the market, she was a super lady then!  We ended up in a helicopter together during the very early Port Stanley Days!

Re: Longtime CBC News Anchor Retiring After 20 Years

I had the pleasure of getting to know and work with Heather at CFOS in Owen Sound in the early 80's.  She was a swing announcer at the station for a time and loved being on air and "the tunes".  Even when working at FM 96 while going to university in London, she would sometimes come back to Owen Sound on the weekend and pick up a shift on CFOS.

A nicer, friendlier and more professional broadcaster you will not find.  I hope Heather comes back for some of the festivities this summer/fall for CFOS moving to FM.  She will be missed on CBC Mornings on the CBC News Network.  All the best in retirement HTHX you have earned it!

=12pxMJ Vancouver:  On CBC News Network I remember she was on-air when the news of Jack Layton’s passing broke, and Peter Mansbridge entered the studio live to break that news.

As ol’ Chrome Dome broke into her shift to deliver the breaking news I can just imagine Hiscox thinking, “Oh come on!  Can’t you let me have this one?”.
Always liked her, a pleasant delivery with a clear speaking voice.  Unlike the majority of bingo callers on the networks these days.  Maybe She can barge in on ol’ Chrome Dome’s gig and start shilling sus reverse mortgages?
