Owing to recent administrative changes in the United States, Russia now finds itself with more-than-sufficient funds to restart the station.

On Monday, Donald Trump spoke to Russia's Vladimir Putin about peace in Ukraine. That normally would not make news here. But what happened during and after that call does.
The mysterious Russian shortwave station, known as UVB-76 or "The Buzzer," mysteriously came back to life. Normally, the station broadcasts only a strange buzzing noise for months and years on end. But during and after the call, a human voice came on reading a series of letters and numbers.
Someone knows what it means, but it's unlikely to be anyone in the west.

This isn't the only mystery signal out there. There are others that both still broadcast or once did. No one really knows what they're for or who is listening that understands the secret code. Frankly, I wasn't aware there were so many.
The Yosemite Sam station has to be my favourite, ya varmint!

I haven't heard the Cuban numbers station for quite a while. Now that I think of it, I haven't heard any Cuban shortwave station for a while (other than the US counter-programming).
