They might do what cina did.
Promis to keep the formats the same but one of the new stations goes ethnic.
Unfortunately that's the only way CKTB would be profitable.... their new FM stations will have a tough enough time breaking even

Yeah, it'll be a slog.
A lot of the stuff Bell takes heat for actually helps some of the smaller stations sound better than they would otherwise. Will middays on 102.9 sound better or worse without Tarzan Dan?
Anyway, changing any of the FM formats would be a big mistake

I'm going to throw the word tweak in there. Hopefully also, the new owner has money for music tests...

They hired Jeff Kirkwood, who started on Tuesday: "I am thrilled to announce I am the new Imaging Producer for Whiteoaks Communications Group. My duties will include Imaging 102.9 (currently Bounce 102.9), 105.7 (currently Move 105.7), 97.7 HTZFM and 610 CKTB. I will also help out when needed to produce commercials too."
He might have a few ideas about the stations and their formats.

Impressed by the few hires I've heard of so far.

He JUST started on TUESDAY? Re-launching imaging on least 3 stations is a massive job!

Nun will be ethnic.
If you look at the link for the hiring spree from when neeti took over, it mentioned knowing other languages.
But the job adds on whiteoak's website don't.
With someone just starting, that means the takover and relaunch is comming sooner than we think.

I don't see any reason why CHTZ and CKTB can't keep their existing imaging..... also.. most producers these days use services that do most of the sonic legwork. I'll guess that they'll take things over in about a month....

Ethnic stuff would be time-brokered in evenings/weekends, if anything....

That's what I was hoping neeti would do with CHAM.
Follow the rules! neeti!
If they do that with CKTB, than whiteoaks is doing things right.

Track down Lance Venta. He's really good at identifying the potential changes.
He usually likes to list all the recently registered .coms and .ca's for possible new radio station names.

HTZ yes, but CKTB has the same imaging voices as 1010, along with some shared programming. Those prod sites give you pieces of audio, but someone still has to cut up voices and put it all together using those pieces. Still a massive job re-doing MOVE/BOUNCE/ and CKTB

Sure... still no more than a month's work though... it doesn't take more than 160 hours to produce what adds up to an hour's worth of imaging

That's if they want to do it right.

From what I have heard on other podcasts, Bell has been very helpful with the change of ownership. For CKTB I would do a slow change as the station becomes more local. My first target would be the 10 - Noon time slot, followed by more specialty programing on the weekend. They need to removed CP24 on weekends even if its repackaged weekday programing.
I would also get into airing local sports programing like OHL or Tripple "A" hockey.
Or even the new radio home of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, they need programing you can not get from other radio stations.

I heard today that the changes will be on or around June 1. So my guess is the Monday after which is June 2. By then the rock search contest on HTZ is over.
Would make sense from a business perspective

I don't mean to be a douche, but can I kindly ask where you heard this? Last Friday, May 16th you posted that it was speculated that Tuesday, May 20th would be "the big day". This is honestly starting to give me vibes reminiscent of GTA 6 before Rockstar Games released the second trailer, screenshots and info a couple of weeks ago after an extended period of silence after releasing the first trailer back in December, 2023. If my question infringes on some unwritten etiquette that I'm not aware of, some mere hint(s) as to your sources would be nice.

It might have been May 20th at one point, but I bet they had to bump it because they weren't ready.

That is correct. They were not ready as certain hires only started on that day. It will take about 2 weeks to get everything ready for the transition with the new staff

An interesting few comments on Sunday morning's early show on CKTB. Just after 6 AM, during the so-called "Secret Hour," host Karl Dockstader and his producer Ryan Williams came on and began hinting about changes coming to the station. They talked about whether they'd still be working there in the next few weeks, what their shifts would be and whether either one would be "fired."
Dockstader suggested his producer had a future "in rock radio," while Williams began joking about what his jock name might be. (I think "Ryan Williams" is pretty good, actually.) And they joked about turning in their "key cards."
At one point, they talked about "new liners" being made and hoped their names were mentioned.
They never explained what they were talking about, but those who visit here are well aware of what it portends. One reference said the changes might happen within the week, while a second referred to "three weeks." Whatever their cryptic SOS's meant, it does seem it's imminent soon.

Only if the teams pay would that make financial sense....that's how it works in every non-major league

They might have to learn punjabi if they want to stay Hahaha.
That's if they go ethnic.
With all the punjabi programming in the gtha, there best bet is to have mostly arabic, polish, ukrainian, tagalog, persian or hindi/urdu programing.
