Don't look now, but there's a new player for younger listeners and it might be the last one you'd expect. It appears to be a combination of Moses and Mozart.
According to the Toronto Star:
"According to research — provided to the Star by New Classical FM — conducted by audience-measurement organization Numeris, the station’s under-35 audience is keeping it locked on the station for about 6.8 hours a week.
The under-18 audience has also increased by 38 per cent in the same time frame to 85,000 listeners a week. This group spends about 14.4 hours tuning in per week, an average of 6.2 hours more than in previous years."
Songs from movies, games helping to lure young listeners to classical music

It's for lack of a better choice.
When I was 18 I didn't want classical because I preferred CKQT.
I very much enjoyed hearing instrumentals that I knew the words to.
If CKQT were CKGE long before the time that CKGE came to be, I bet I'd be settling for classical too...

I enjoy instrumentals on SiriusXM's Escape channel as well as Don Andrews' easy listening Crystal Radio.
Don's channel reminds me so much of CKFM 99.9 from the 70s & 80s.

Classical is what we listen to at the breakfast table. We are almost at P1 status! My 6 and 9 year old constantly ask how it is that Jean Stilwell gets so much time off.

Is P-1 more or less desirable than P-2 or P-3?

Have to admit the clock radio has Marilyn's 'Nocturne' on each night as I go to sleep, Wake up to John Moore.

#ig. John Moore is my wake-up and Classical is our family friendly station in the kitchen.
#Kilgore - P-1 = loyal listeners who tune in for hours at a time and feel a given station is an extension of THEIR daily routine. P-1s offer radio brass a clear idea of what demo is listening and where they are tuning in from. Understaning P-1 listeners influences programming, sell ads and create revenue.

My Uncle Merv keeps it locked onto 102.9 (which is 96.3 up here) in the barn, 24-7. His Jerseys are all under-35 and are excellent milkers

CKQT. I remember that name. Bargain-basement non-union-maintained elevator music...the stuff that producers of somnambulist pornography rejected. Devil music for lithium-addled housewives.
I'm sure there's a hell of an oral history in that station.
