Political Climate

happened to be listening in the car to AM 640 today, Alex Pierson show.
She had on a panel discussing things like reasons for the supposed Alberta separation issue (non issue).
Panel members spent most time bashing any efforts to curtail or regulate use of carbon and fossil fuels.
In other words rehashing worn out opposition to any notion of climate change, man made etc.
Anyway the segment ended and it went to a commercial break to lead into the next segment.
The commercial was from the insurance companies of Ontario acknowledging the increase of "severe weather" in Ontario and what insurance companies will do to help.
Had a good chuckle that after the talk show panel climate denial they threw to the very conservative insurance industry eagerly acknowledging severe weather from climate change.

Re: Political Climate

Any climate change deniers (right-wing or not, though in my experience it just seems to be a right-wing thing) honestly will keep denying it until their homes are flooded, their cars are floating on the water, and half their furniture  has been blown to China.

I'm still mad that all that Conservative propaganda about the carbon levy increasing grocery bills (despite studies showing it barely does) caused the end of the carbon tax rebate. That was free money every year for low income people who mostly take transit or in my case, just walk all the time.

They honestly don't see how close we are now to reaching the point of no return where a dangerous chain reaction of heat causes other changes that lead to more heat, leading to more global changes that lead to more heat...  I just hope all these deniers own ocean-front property when things really get worse.

Re: Political Climate

With close to 70 wildfires burning in Central Canada presently, and seeing temps in the upper 20's to 30c in Northern Ontario, I understand the severity of climate change. Until the biggest offending countries on the other side of the world get on board, and the current administration south of us not willing to do anything to change anything, nothing is going to change in the near term. I have 4 grandchildren under 4 years old, I worry for them and all of the next generations.
